County Buildings Stafford

recently I had the pleasure of photographing Julie & Nigel's special day that took place at Stafford's County buildings...

The County Buildings is widely regarded as one of the ﬁnest late Victorian buildings in Great Britain.

It is situated at the heart of the historic county town of Stafford.The building is licensed to hold ceremonies in any one of ﬁve locations, making it ideal for occasions attended by from 25 to 100 guests.Locations vary from the opulent splendour of the Council Chamber to the intimate warmth of the Members' Library. The building's magniﬁcent sweeping staircase provides a unique setting for your wedding photographs, whether formal or reportage.

The wedding itself was followed by a reception at Worsten Mill originally built in 1814 this has retained much of its original features, and makes a great backdrop for photographs.

Becky & Stephen's Wedding Worsten Mill Stafford

Time to post a few shots from Becky & Stephen's wedding...

The morning started at the brides house with the usual prep shots and details, The girls all very relaxed sipping pink champagne not even the rain was going to spoil this day...and boy did it rain !!

From the brides house I went to meet the lads at the church and at this point the rain was bouncing of the floor...so time to dig out those umbrella's.

Following the service we headed over to Worsten mill to finish of the photographs, I started indoors with the groups and managed to get outside for a few shots of the couple.

wedding day for Joanne & David

Joanne & David, St Dominic's Stone & Sandon Hall

At the beginning of July I had the pleasure of photographing Joanne & David's wedding. Joanne and David had travelled up from Ealing London and chosen Sandon Hall as the venue for their special day.

My starting point for the day was with the bride in the morning to cover the preps, The girls were all very relaxed and naturals in front of camera....

I then headed over to the church to capture the guests and groom arriving, this done it was time for the arrival of the bride maids and also the rain ( perfect timing !

Then it was time for Joanne and her mum Rita to arrive, both looking amazing and full of of smiles.

with David just about holding it together...lol ( I wont say anymore mate you never know who's reading this !) the happy couple became Mr & Mrs Knowles..( Congratulations )

So time to head over to Sandon and complete the photography. I have to say that everyone on this wedding was so warm and friendly it was an absolute pleasure to be part of it.

Sharon & James wedding took place at St Andrews Weston followed by a reception at Sandon Hall.

This was the third wedding i have done for this family starting with James brother Richard back in 2004, followed by their Sister Claire's wedding in 2007 and finally James in 2009. So a massive thank you to all the family for using Stephen Sutton Photography for all of the family weddings.

This was another great day with familiar faces and great weather, I'm sure all three of the wedding i have done for this family have been really nice weather, correct me if I'm wrong guys....

Its difficult to show all of the wedding on a blog post but as usual I have posted a taster.

Wedding day for Yvonne and Stuart.

Yvonne and Stuarts wedding took place on the final weekend in May, and boy was it sunny.

The service was held at St Austins just of the Wolverhampton road and the reception took place at littywood manor house Bradley.

Wedding day for Laura and Mitchell

Laura and Mitchell's wedding took place at croxden church at the end of May with the reception being held at Weston Hall.

We had pre arranged to do the main shots of the couple at croxden abbey ruins, this is right next to the church and a photographers dream location. As the guests left the church for Weston Hall we hung back and headed over to the abbey ruins for the photographs.

We spent about 20 minuets at the abbey this giving us plenty of time to get the photographs I needed. We then headed over to Weston hall to finish of the with the family groups.

I headed back over to Weston Hall in the evening to finish of with a dusk shot.

St Thomas church Walton on the hill followed by a reception at the Moathouse Acton Trussell was the setting for Helen and David. The day started with the bridal preps at the Moathouse prior to meeting the guys at the church. The weather held out for us giving us plenty of opportunity for photographs. Sandon Hall Wedding of Victoria and Michael

As another busy weekend fast approaches I wanted to share a few shots from another great wedding at Sandon Hall. I will be at Sandon Hall again this weekend and as it is one of my favourite venues I cant wait to get there again.

Victoria and Michael's wedding was a civil ceremony held at Sandon hall followed by the reception. Once the ceremony was completed we headed outside for the big group photo of all the guests ( i normally do this as the first shot so everyone can then go and relax and have a drink) Then I took the happy couple for a walk around the grounds for the rest of the photographs. Victoria and Michael really love this venue and I wanted to make sure that they not only had nice photographs of themselves and family but made sure the building was included in some of the shots.

So as usual here are a few of my faves from the day enjoy.....

Wedding Day for Zoe & Neil

Zoe and Neils special day took place on the 11th April a glorious sunny afternoon.

I started at the bride's house with the bridal preps, Then off to St Nicholas church in Codsall for the arrivals and groom shots.

Their reception took place at Hadley park house.

Set in three acres of landscaped gardens, Hadley Park House Hotel in Telford, Shropshire provides the ideal get away from everyday life.

Surrounded by landscaped gardens, the Conservatory Restaurant has a relaxed atmosphere making it the perfect place for a wedding.

Fun in the Puddles.

Last week I had pleasure of working with a client that had previously been to my studio a couple of years ago, as children seem to change almost on a daily basis it was time to freshen up the folio with some up to date images. This done we decided to go outside for some more fun.

We can offer studio or location portraits on this occasion we did a little of both. You cant make a child smile, but let them have fun and it comes naturally......

On Wednesday I spent some time in Lichield on a pre wedding shoot with Alexandra and Peter, I will be photographing their in June. We decided to meet up at the George Hotel and then spend 30 minuets or so on the photography session.

Pre wedding shoots are complimentary to all Stephen Sutton photography Brides, They are normally done midweek and last around 30 minuets.

I just wanted to blog this shoot I did in mid January, This little cutie came into the studio with mum,dad and extended family for a portrait session and I could not resist taking these photos of her in this little pink winter outfit.

I have worked with the family now on a couple of shoots and also photographed the little ones aunts wedding last year. I love it when clients return as it tells me they are happy with my work.

February wedding Fayre's

On Sunday 1st February I will be exhibiting at Weston Hall from 11.00am to 4.00pm free admission.

Situated in the heart of the Staffordshire countryside, Weston Hall is a privately owned, grade II* listed 16Th century building. Its Elizabethan architecture includes many original features including mullioned windows, open stone fireplaces and oak beams.

Bordering the village of Weston, the Hall is just five miles from Stafford and close to the M6 motorway, with excellent road links to Stone, Uttoxeter and the north. Stafford is 60 miles south of Manchester and 30 miles north of Birmingham. Surrounded by fields, the Hall has beautiful gardens and a raised terrace with panoramic views over the Trent Valley.

On Sunday February 22nd

I will be exhibiting at Ingestre hall 11.00am to 4.00pm with free admission and ample parking.

This is the first fayre at this venue and is a must for anyone planning a wedding.

Ingestre Hall is Sandwells Residential Arts Centre. This former home of the Earl of Shrewsbury is a Rose Brick Jacobean mansion set in 27 acres of Staffordshire countryside.

This magnificent setting is the ideal location for that special occasion including civil marriage ceremonies, receptions, concerts and evening dinners.

Wedding day for Charlotte & Craig took place at all Saints church in the lovely village of Grinshill.

Although a little on the cold side the sun did come and pay us a visit for the service. Charlotte went from her parents house around 150 yards from the Church.

The reception was held at the Mytton and Mermaid, a magnificent grade 2 listed building, standing on the banks of the river Severn.

Lisa and Michael's wedding took place at St Bertolines Barthomley on December 20th, Their reception was held at Crewe Hall.

Most of the shots had to be taken indoors due to the weather ( Wet !! ) Thankfully I had a very relaxed bride and groom that took all this in their stride and didn't let it spoil their day.

Wedding Day for Jennifer & James

I woke up Saturday morning expecting to be doing most of my photography indoors. Instead what a glorious day, bright sunshine a little cold but hey I wasn't going to complain.

I arrived at Jennifer's parents house and greeted with a warm welcome, so out came the camera and I made a start recording their special day.

The wedding of Helen & Johnathan took place at Somerford Hall, built in 1730 in the classic Palladian style of the time and contains a variety of interesting architectural detail such as the original ornate plasterwork in the hallway and a wonderful galleried oak staircase.
The couple gave me more time than I could have dreamt of for photographs and I made the most of it ensuring they had great pictures from the day.
I started with the bridal preps and finished with the first dance in the early evening. I have posted a few faves from the day. Here a few shots from Sunday in Birmingham. Models for the day Ellie & Laura , I have to say a big thank you to the girls because it was extremely hot on Sunday and not once did they complain. Myself along with some other photographs went to Birmingham for a days shooting, its nice to get out now and again and do things for yourself and experiment with different lighting techniques an so on. Also thanks to Gill for putting the day together.

Just wanted to post a few images from last Saturdays wedding.
Joanne & Mark civil ceremony took place at the Moat house Acton Trussell,the weather on the day wasn't great but this wasn't going to spoil their special day. After the ceremony the weather was kind enough just to let us go outside for all the pictures and some fun. I have posted a few of my faves from the day.

Watch Me Grow

Two years ago I set up the watch me grow package, this is a year in the life of a new baby photographed at regular intervals throughout the first 12 months. As a qualified member of the Master Photographers association I was approached to take on clients from a company that had stopped trading. Over the past 12 months the WMG has gone form strength to strength and for anyone looking for the ideal gift for a new parent or Christening gift this definitely ticks all the boxes. Here is my first client K and she has not only done the 12 months but has come back for her second birthday. I cannot believe how fast the time has gone and also how much she has changed. If you are interested in the WMG package please give me a call, the price for this package is £35.00 and also includes free gifts.

K on number 3 now around 40 weeks old and starting to model hats.

4th and final session on the WMG package. At 1 year, a little more tricky to photograph as at this age they realise its fun to move around or turn away just as i press the shutter button.

And this is K at 2 years, from these you can see just how much a child changes and develops in a very short space of time, these moments are so precious and K's parents will have a good record of the early years thanks to the WMG package.

Portrait session

These portraits of M & P shot a couple of weeks ago at Milford Studio were great fun. M had been given a gift voucher from work colleagues and came along to the studio a little nervous, ( or so i thought ) for a few shots together. Once we got going I felt I was working with a couple of pro models and I was really pleased with the final results. P sent me a really nice letter thanking me for the shoot and told me they had both enjoyed the experience ( this is always nice to know) anyway here are a few of my faves from the shoot. Enjoy :)

Easter Break

Just back from my Easter break with the family, this years trip was to Benalmadena Costa Del Sol for 7 nights, great weather no delays ( can't ask for more than that !) Should be back in the swing of things by Monday. Unfortunately no photo's on this one to share as I never touched a camera all week, just lounged about in the sun all day doing absolutely nothing :0) ( no comments please ) lol.

Sandon Hall Bridal Fayre

I will be at Sandon Hall Bridal Fayre on Sunday 9th March, this will be my last show until the end of the year. The times are 11.00am to 4.00pm.

Thought I would post a few shots of Sandon from different times of the year as this venue photographs well all year round, indoors or out you are sure to get some great shots at Sandon Hall.

Return From The Big Apple

OK I promised a few photo's on my return from New York, I actually took 876 photos so I hope you have got some spare time, Just kidding.

I was armed with my old Nikon D100 with prime lens 17 to 55mm f2.8 , this is much lighter that the D2xs that i normally use and also lots less expensive to replace, but a good little travel camera. Anyway on with the photo's.

Ellie and David, one of the last weddings of 2007. I love these Black and white shots of the bride.

Black and White or Colour ? this is one of my favourite grab shots. I had no time to compose this , I had great window light and the bridesmaid just turned for a split second and her face was beautifully lit by the natural light. I'm still not sure Black and White or Colour ? such dilemma.
